Discussion 3

Media will Never Influence Learning

Along with almost everyone else, I did not agree with this article after reading the title. I do believe that media has an influence on student learning. Yes, technology can be expensive and it may be more difficult for other schools to afford to keep up with the technology changes, but I believe it can be an effective tool in the classroom. Schools need to make technology a high priority when it comes to spending funds. I don’t believe that technology should be a main focus in the classroom, but I do think that it can be effective and beneficial for students and teachers in many ways.

When Each One Has One

I thought this article made some pretty good points. The danger with every student having a laptop is them doing what they are not suppose to be doing on the computer during class. There are many ways to fix this problem though. During the first couple of weeks during my internship, I had a problem with students getting off task and playing games on the Internet. I quickly fixed this problem with a software program I had on the teacher computer. Once I became familiar with the software, I was able to gain control of all the computers, if needed, including blocking the Internet. Laptops can be very beneficial for the students to have for many reasons. I think it would be great if every student had one!
