Comments on When each one has one: The influences on Teaching strategies and Student Achievement of Using laptops in classrooms by Lowther, D.,Ross, S

Through the study with students of grade 5, 6 and 7, the authors indicated the good impacts of laptops on classroom activities and on student use of technology and their writing and problem solving skills. After reading this article, I just feel concerned about the issue of inequality of education quality and opportunities which is caused by the digital divide in 21st century. This is making the gap in education quality between developing countries and developed countries, between rural and urban areas, between rich schools and poor schools. While in developing countries, they are still discussing how to bring computers to students at universities, in the developed world, they are discussing about equipping laptop for each individual student of grade 5 for 24 hours. This inequality in resources is the reason leading to inequality in human development training and poverty. I don’t know how policy makers and educators will solve this problem, but I think, this is a big problem that we all need to face in 21st century and have to think how to solve this, especially, we are all now living in a globalization world.
